Yo sum yummy dim sum at So yum
We finally got to eat at So Yum in Hyde Park last night. One of my favourite things to eat is dim sum, we used to love eating them when we lived in London, so we’re thrilled there’s a new spot in town serving them up. In London once, on an early date one Sunday we had the most amazing time at DimT in Hampstead, I think we sat there for about six hours and ended the evening having one for the road with the waitress, it was a great, memorable date.
So yum is part of the Oyo, Wangthai group, Oyo also serve great dim sum (but only have a few choices on the menu). So yum have more to choose from and they were very yummy. There is nothing nicer than the prawn and celery gau dipped in that spicy mushroom soya sauce, yummm.
We also drank a really nice bottle of red, a Virnum Africa Cabernet Sauvignon and then, as you can see, finished the meal off with a divine berry meringue desert for three. A good night out, with delicious dim sum was had by all.

I love this Japanese Mayo design
You may think I’m crazy, but this Japanese mayonnaise packaging is one of my favourites. Sushi chefs use it all the time and we all eat it in our sushi hand rolls or whatever they put it on. I also love it because it has good memories from living in London.
I’m posting some pictures of it here to show it’s simplistic design, just a soft, squeeze bottle in a printed plastic sleeve. And the cute little character illustration on the sleeve is embossed subtly on the bottles front. NO printing on the bottle – isn’t that great? Once you throw the plastic sleeve away you are left with this seemingly unbranded plastic bottle. I love it!
Oh yah, the mayonnaise is great too.
Let me know what you think, or show me one of your favourites.
